'PillEye', a pill counting app operated by Medility (CEO Park Sang-eon), has entered the top 50 in the medical app rankings of major countries around the world.

Medility announced that since its official launch in January 2021, it has secured more than 290,000 customers in over 220 countries. As of the end of 2022, the app has entered the top 50 medical app rankings in numerous overseas countries,

including the United States and Canada in North America, as well as Taiwan in Asia. The company explained that this is the first time a Korean healthcare app has entered the top 50 in the U.S. healthcare app category.

PillEye, which counts pills using its own deep learning algorithm, can count up to 1,000 pills with 99.99% accuracy within one second from a single photograph. This is said to efficiently shorten the manual work of pharmacists who have to count and package pills by hand for inventory management and prescription dispensing in pharmacies.

This year, Medility plans to enhance PillEye's features and expand its presence in the global market.

A company official stated, "We plan to add new features specialized for the North American market, such as PillEye's automatic photo-taking and cradle mode, and to seriously target the B2B market."

They also expressed expectations for increased demand, noting, "60% of all PillEye users are from the United States, and demand is expected to grow as the U.S. begins to mandate the recording of the entire process of drug production, distribution, and prescription this year."

Medility CEO Park Sang-eon said, "It is encouraging that PillEye, developed to improve the working environment of pharmacies, is being recognized for its value in the highly competitive U.S. healthcare market."

He added, "This year will be the first year for global market entry and profitability, and we will continue to digitally transform pharmacies worldwide so that pharmacists can focus on caring for their patients."
