Cardinal Health RBC 2026 Recap: AI Pill Counting with PillEye for Independent Pharmacies

Cardinal Health Retail Business Conference (RBC) 2026 took place July 22–25 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. The event brought together more than 4,000 independent pharmacists. Medility showcased PillEye Prism and PillEye Station through live demonstrations and conversations grounded in real pharmacy operations.

RBC 2026 was more than an opportunity to introduce PillEye. It gave us a firsthand look at what independent pharmacies value when choosing a pill counter: ease of use, efficient use of space, and a comfortable fit with everyday dispensing workflows.

From Real-Time Counting to Running Totals

At the PillEye booth, we demonstrated real-time pill counting powered by Vision AI using tablets of different sizes and colors, including translucent softgels. Attendees watched counts appear as pills were placed on the tray and showed strong interest in the speed and straightforward counting experience.

We also introduced Multi-Tray, which automatically adds counts across multiple trays. North American pharmacies often fill 90-day supplies and other large-count prescriptions. When the full quantity does not fit on one tray, pharmacy teams can count it in multiple batches and follow a running total without memorizing or manually adding each subtotal.

Attendees responded positively to being able to continue counting and confirm the total quantity required for a prescription in one continuous process.

PillEye Prism and Station for Different Pharmacy Workflows

Prescription volume, staffing, fill-counter space, and workflow vary from one pharmacy to another. PillEye Prism and Station use the same Vision AI-powered real-time counting technology but are configured for different pharmacy environments and operational needs.

PillEye Prism is lightweight and compact, making it easy to place on a limited fill counter or move between work areas as needed. Its quick setup and straightforward operation make it a practical option for pharmacies looking to add a dedicated counting environment with minimal disruption.

PillEye Station is an integrated pill counter designed for pharmacies with frequent counting needs. It supports standardized dispensing workflows and an Rx scan workflow, while its high-resolution camera provides a clearer verification experience.

Attendees considered their own counter space, counting frequency, and daily operations as they explored which setup would be the better fit for their pharmacy.

Automation Designed for Everyday Independent Pharmacy Work

One theme came through consistently in our booth conversations: pharmacies are not simply looking for more features. They need tools that staff can learn quickly, that reduce repetitive steps, and that fit naturally into the space and workflow they already have.

Conversations With Korean American Pharmacists

Korean American pharmacists from several regions also visited the PillEye booth during RBC 2026. Medility also participated in a separate Korean American pharmacist networking gathering to introduce PillEye and hear firsthand perspectives on pharmacy operations and pill-counting workflows across different regions.

Sharing specific perspectives on product use and real dispensing situations gave us a closer understanding of the diverse environments in which independent pharmacies operate across the United States. The conversations that began at the event also created a meaningful opportunity to expand our connections with the Korean American pharmacist community.

What We Saw at RBC 2026

At Cardinal Health RBC 2026, Medility demonstrated real-time counting with PillEye Prism and PillEye Station, support for a variety of pill types, and Multi-Tray to independent pharmacists. We received positive feedback on the products’ speed, ease of use, and compact design while exploring how PillEye could fit into different pharmacy environments.
